E-flow

Hello, everyone.

I haven't been on much lately but just wanted to check in and read through the boards. I will try to respond on my next visit.

My post is in regards to the E-flow. I hate it. I LOVE how fast it is and it seems to do a decent job (I can't really tell much difference and only do coli in it), but I HATE that you can't throw it in the dishwasher or boil it. I am a germ freak and also find that IV Solutions protocol to immediately wash with distilled water and dish soap and then immediately pour sterile water over to rinse is a royal pain in the b*tt.

With my PARI, if I'm in a hurry, I can just throw it in the dishwasher and go OR I can leave it to wash by hand later in the day and boil it. I KNOW it is disinfected that way.

I know the E-flow folks say about once a week to disinfect with 70% isopropyl alcohol, but that seems far short of the disinfection technique used with the PARI. The PARI is to be disinfected by boiling or in dishwasher every treatment or two (and you can always use regular tap water... MUCH EASIER! if you boil afterward before using again).

Does anyone else feel the time it takes to clean the E-flow and the risk of infection aren't necessarily worth the added benefit of saving a couple of minutes of treatment time? Just curious. I find that it is far more convenient to spend a couple extra minutes doing coli in one of my several sets of PARIs and then setting it aside to disinfect later in the day versus having to use special waters, soaps, etc. with the E-flow immediately after treatment, which takes an additional 5-10 minutes anyway.

Just curious if I'm alone in this thinking?

I personally boil my PARI before every single treatment... Maybe OCD, but I know they're clean!

IV Solutions has told me that I can put it in the dishwasher, so I put the whole thing in there on high heat once a month. I also soak the head in alcohol when it gets slow. Otherwise I wash it with soap and water after each use. I wonder why they told you to not put it in the dishwasher?

Get a baby-bottles-steam-desinfector and put it in there after use (not the whole eflow, just the neb cup pieces), thats what most of us do in Germany and it is also recommended by Pari!
