Ears aches and sinus problems

I have posted about this problem before, but I think it was years ago, so I am hoping that some of you newer members will be able to help me out. I have never had ear problems before, no ear infections, nothing growing up but a recent post about sinuses and ear infections had me thinking.

Recently, I was on Zyvox for two weeks for an increased cough. While on that, my sinuses felt amazing. I typically have had to take motrin for sinus pain/pressure...usually once a day. So while on the Zyvox, I noticed I did not need the motrin at all! I was so happy and so excited. But then I finished the Zyvox...and it all came back. My sinus pain and pressure was back and so was the cough. The cough is not like it was before, just slightly increased.

BUT what I have also noticed is severe pain in my left ear ONLY at night when I sleep. I don't typically feel pain during the day unless I am leaning on it, like laying on the couch. What happens is...I will wake up with this pain in the middle of the night and hardly be able to pick my head up because of the pain. The pain gets worse before it gets better, then I move my head and the pain dulls.

I have never had ear infections, so I don't know what this means. I am thinking right now it is related to the sinuses being clogged. But do ear infections usually hurt only at night? Let me know if anyone else has this problem or any other advice. I am thinking of calling the ENT to see if he has any suggestions, but I really think the only solution would be sinus surgery again if this is related to my sinuses...
