At clinic yesterday my doctor said that they are now recomending or telling people that they can do HTS in an eflow. I would like to try it but want to what I should look for. Obviously it wont take as long and will save me some time and energy. Will it be much more effective? Will I cough a lot more than with hts in a regular neb?

Let me know what you all think! Thanks!

Hi Caitlin,
I recently got the eflow. I tried to do HTS in it. It was just so powerful that I couldn't take a breathe without the strong HTS taste. It made me bronchospasm so much that every breath I had to stop the machine and cough. It was way worse than the regular nebbing of it. I would either have to do 3% HTS instead of the 7%... but I didn't try the 3% concentration, so who knows if I will still have same problem.

I don't have a bad time on the regular neb; sure I still cough, but it's not every breath I take.

That's my experience.

Good luck! Jenn

i do 7% in the eflow. its SUPER strong like jenn said and kind of hard to do but i do it in 1-2 minute intervals while i do the vest so i space it out over my 30 min vest time b/c in the eflow it only takes about 10 mins total to neb. i cough more right at the beginning usually but i think some of that is due to throat irritation b/c of how strong the saline is. i usually stop coughing b/c of that after a couple minutes and then its just the regular cough in response to the hts working in my lungs.....hope thats helpful! i have never tried 3% in my eflow but that might be a good place to start instead of the 7%.....

I would be concerned about everything mentioned. I gag, cough carry on at 7% without the eflow. I also am not sure about the testing of HTS with Eflow. Tho quite honestly I cant keep up with what is tested with what etc.

IF it is ok to use the Eflow with it, I would ASSume 7% is much to strong for how quickly it gets administered & would start with 3% & work up from there.

Of course, this is all IMHO <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif" border="0">!
