Feeding Tube Help

Hello,I have a gj-tube in my belly. I was told that once the track had formed i could get it changed from being about 6 inches of bulk hanging out of me to a button on my skin. Now that it has healed i have been told that they can't put in a button, ya wanna know thier reasoning?? Because the tried it in ONE, only ONE other person and it didn't work. What a bunch of crap, they continuously tell us that each case is unique but at the same time when it is convenient they cluster cases together. I am moving in 2 weeks, so i am going to talk to docs and the hospital there to see if they can do it. I am just wondering if anyone else has this type of feeding tube and if they were able to get a button placed. MSG here or email me at juliebowers007@hotmail.comYour fellow CFer,Julie

I've had a g-tube for about 15 years, I am 34 yo M. Once it heals you should get the little button it is manufactured by a company called BARD or a Mickey tube is another one. I gained lots of weight. I just recently removed it. I found that if i could get those extra calories during the day I didnt need it. i you are not disciplined enough to get those calories the g-tube is a must. I get a supplement called Boost and force myself to drink 3 cans a day. You can try ensure or others you can get them at the store. Try it and you can switch your formula to the boost. The key is to be disciplined in what you do ie drink three cans a day etc. Plus eat normally.Good Luck
