Hi Went to clinic yesterday and my FEV1 is the best its been for over a year its jumped from 1.52 to 1.78. The only thing i've done differently is i've started tobi 1 month on 1 month off whereas before i did it continuously once a day. It certainly seems to have made a difference but when i asked the doctor she said it hasn't been proven to work best twice a day. Just wondered if anyone else noticed an improvement after Tobi??

On another note i finally got myself a new job so i don't have to do the long commute when my office relocates. I'm now worrying about how my CF will affect my time at work. The new employer knows and i did tell him it doesn't affect me apart from outpaitient visits which is true. But after Haemoptysis last year i keep worrying this will happen again after i start here. my current bosses don't mind when i take time off. Dave tells me not to worry and just deal with it if it happens which i know is right. Just wondered if anyone else stresses in the same way ?

Congrats on your higher numbers <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">. Tobi has been beneficial for some with cf and not so much for others, you may be one of those that really benefits from it. If i am correct the normal dosing of Tobi is to do it twice a day.
Hemoptysis thats a whole other story.... I can certainly understand your anxiety about it happening again. As long as you are on Vit K., and avoid what you know triggers it, then you are doing the best you can. Some things to avoid if you have issues with hemoptysis are (because they can thin the blood)....

- Garlic in large doses
- Ibuprofen
- Anti-inflammatories
- Green Tea
- too much Vit. E
- Aspirin
- certain medications with blood thinning action ( ask about each new medicine)

Tobi helps me a lot. I do it maybe one month out of three, but I do it twice a day when I do it. I'm actually on it this month and it feels great. I think it all depends if your PA is sensitive to it. In theory, you take time off Tobi to reduce the chance of resistance developing. Being on it chronically once a day might lead to resistance, but I'm no expert. I'm not even sure "they" have hard data on this.

My FEV1 did improve when I first started TOBI, so your improvement could very well be from the TOBI.

I do worry about hemoptysis at times too. Hopefully your next boss will be as understanding & supportive as your current one is!
