I just wanted to see if anyone has any ideas. This is the 2nd time that I have spiked a fever and had severe joint pain. I don't just mean regular aches from the fever. It is alot of pain in every joint, it makes it hard to even walk. I was in the hosppital last time it happened and they couldn't figure anything out. I started spiking a fever the other night and yesterday the pain started, i am miserable and do not know what to do. Any ideas?

Donna, call your doctor. Don't wait on things like fevers. It could be as 'simple' as a cold or flu, which to someone with CF could turn into much much more.

Joint pain can come from many sources. My mom has fibromyalgia. My wife had ruemetoid (spelling?) arthritus related to lupus problems. I've had friends who had lime disease who had joint pain. It could come possibly come from the antibiotics you were on recently. It's not necessarily directly related to cf.

In any case, talk with the DR about both.

(Are you still 33? I thought you had a birthday?)

Thank you for the info, I am waiting to hear back from my doctor now. You are right my b-day was yesterday, now I'm 34, but feeling alot older today. I should change my name, but I was diagnosed at 33 so I may keep it.

Take care

The fever and joint pain could range from catching a cold, the flue, to the reaction your body is giving to fighting off a bug in the lungs.

Definitely see your doctor about it...if it's the flu, it is much harder on us CF'rs! Also, some of the major symptoms includes muscle and joint ache.

I've had fevers occur simultaneously with my knees aching, and concluded I was in need of liquids and rest. I could have been fighting off a bug at the time as well, but I was also dealing with a lot of stress.

Hopefully your doctor will have some good advice...by the way, Happy Birthday!!
(and keep your '33', as a reminder of how long you've been on this forum, and how long you've managed to beat the CF! Besides, changing the number every year would make it so complicating!)

Thank you for the advice. The Doctor called and they are gonna continue the IV's for a while and they changed them. She also said the pain was probably a CF related arthropathy or something like that and she put me on some prednisone, which she said would take about 48 hours to work. I had to go sit in the ER last night because she would not give me anything for pain, which I feel is totally unfair. I think I will be looking for a new MD that doesn't pick and choose which symptoms they want to treat. I'm sorry to vent, but I'm so upset right now, and confused.
