Has anyone heard about the findings of the Healthy Gene that was given to 12 adults w/CF (PHASE I). They were given a saline solution dripped slowly into the nasal passage. Investigators monitored salt transport in nose and determinded if the healthy gene was taken up by the cells and produced enough protein to affect the transport of salt and water in and out of cells. The findings of 2/3 of patients treated had an increase transport of chloride in nose. If all possible this could correct the defective CF cells. Also an aerosol version would enable CF pt's. to have the healthy gene delivered directly to lungs, which should provide superior treatment for the CF disease.
