Fleet Enemas

Has anyone used these on their young child? Our dr wants us to use 2 on our dd (6). She started Miralax on Monday and still no luck so she wants us to try the fleet enemas as a last ditch effort. I'm just afraid of hurting her. She did have an x-ray, too. Thanks!

I have never administered it, but I had some for me back in May when I was in the hospital. I was so backed up that I was vomiting & thought I would die from the pain. It really was a waste of time for me. It didnt even begin to reach the problem. I ended up drinking a solution (similiar to Mirilax) twice a day & little by little it eased. The xrays showed I was so impacted that the doctors couldnt believe I didnt have problems sooner. I guess I just always had enough of a bowl movement to keep it "just" at bay! As far as hurting your daughter, I dont think you will do that. If you take your time & read the directions carefully. It might be unformfotable (hell....it definitely will be) & she probably will give you a hard time, but keeping her still & going slow & easy is the key. Good Luck!

My 4 year old has had to use them three separate times for blockages, I can't say it is any fun. He doesn't like it at all and usually we are crying at the end of it too. It takes 3 of us to do it, they told us to use the bag type though. Good luck, I know he gets in severe pain and vomits and can't eat and loses weight. I don't wish that on anyone! Good luck!
