Hey all,

So I don't have a gyno really anymore (insurance issues), not that she would have had anything useful to contribute to my question here, but, I am currently not on any birth control. With out birth control, I can go for up to 4-5 months without my time of the month happening. This is common w/cf, I know, and I've dealt with it for a long time. Well, this is the first time my fiance and I are having sex without me on BC. We use other protection, but, if something were to go wrong with it (condom breaks w/out realizing, etc), how would I know any different since I'm not cycling normally? I'm worried that if I got pregnant I wouldn't know since I don't get my period anyway. Do any of you have this problem or at least consider it? I know I can take a pregnancy test, but to do that after every time, or just if I'm particularly panicky, will get VERY pricey. I would appreciate any suggestions or input as I know this is a rather very personal question.

The only thing I can think of is what you've mentioned...doing the p.g. test.

Is there a particular reason why you're not on b.c.? I would think even your CF doctor could prescribe it for you??

Quite frankly I am a bit confused!

WHY are you not on B/C? If its from not having a GYN then either find one or as mentioned ask your CF doctor about it.

Although condoms are 100% since only abstaining would be then I would at least use that until you can get a preferred method.

Although condoms do break....the chances of that are fairly slim I think. They are probably just as good as any other method of b/c.

I used an IUD. I just recently had it taken out. It was in for 10 years & I will be having a new one put in. That way IF you dont have a a gyn then you are safe.....no need to "refill". The gyn that put it in has since left the area.

Be careful, Good Luck!

you could also make sure you know all the possible symptoms of pregnancy ie morning sickness, extreme fatigue, sore breasts, etc....and make sure you know how your body feels normally so you notice when things are alittle off. (Just don't get your self too paranoid about it or you might make yourself think you feel those syptoms, I've had a few friends do that LOL). Other than that a test is the only other way I can think of.
