really this is for any female with CF who has had a child. i was wondering about the cervical mucus plug. was that one of the problems you have in conceiving naturally? if this question seems to personal then dont answer it, l'm just curios as to whether or not a cervical mucus plug actually causes one to be unable to become pregnant naturally

It does. Or so I've been told by my doc. My boyfriend and I are going to start trying to have kids - he's going to be getting tested in a couple of months to see if he's a carrier. How my doc explained it to me, is that CFer's develop thick mucus pretty much everywhere, "down there" included. For some its easier for the sperm to get through because the mucus isn't quite so thick, but for others the mucus is thicker, and they have to be artificially insemenated, this is where they take the sperm in a needle, and push through your mucus to implant the sperm to become pregant. For some its easier, for others its harder. It all depends on how much mucus you have down there.

I am 31 with CF and I have a daughter who does not have CF. my husband and I conceived naturally and did'nt have any problems. although he is a carrier for CF.
My pregnanacy went pretty smooth. I had gestational diabetes. It went away after madilyn was born. Then 3 years later I ended up with CFRD. All is well.

I conceived my son naturally and without trying, but have been trying for 18 months for number two with no success - docs think that in the seven years since my son was conceived things may have gotten a little thicker "down there" and cervical mucous might be the problem. Try taking mucinex when you start trying to conceive.

mucinex is the pill form of guaifisen, which has been shown thin cervical mucus in women who have "hostile" cerivcal mucus, which is the case in too thick cervical mucus
