For those of you with little ones that take enzymes

My daughter is 4 months old and we have been giving her enzymes in applesauce. Here lately though we cant get her to take them without throwing up everywhere. Weve tried giving them to her on a spoon with a little formula but that doesnt work either. She has alot of congestion in the back of her throat. When she throws up its really mucousy and has her enzymes in it. Any tips on getting her to take them without throwing them right back up? Thanks Sarah

Is this the only thing she throws up? Maybe its the applesauce? Have you tried giver her fewer beads at a time? I am not sure what else to tell you, but maybe other moms can!

My kids have always had post nasal drip. When it gets thick, they gag on their food. ALways have. When they were little, they developed a very strong gag reflex and even enzyme beads made them choke. We tried thicker mixtures of stuff so that the beads we're so obvious. Yogurt worked pretty well.

Its not easy, good luck.

I just got through a rough patch with enzymes myself, but my son wasn't throwing up, just refusing to open his mouth or just spitting them out. But when he was diagnosed at about 4 months old I used to dip the tip of my pinky in the beads to pick some up, then wipe my finger in the inside of his cheek. Then gave him a few sips of the bottle and did it again. Try just a little bit of beads at a time. I hope you find something that works for your little one!

Well, I never had the issue with throwing them up, but I did refuse
to take them for a while.  My mother mixed them in with
cottage cheese (my favorite comfort food even now) and I never
had a problem after that.  Melissa could be right, it might
just be the applesauce that she isn't tolerating.  All I can
say is to experiment!

Oh! I feel for you. We have definately done the enzymes in the vomit thing. Emily was about 3 months old when the docs decided she had reflux. Could that be it? If I remember correctly, most of the vomiting was when the applesauce went in, rather than at other times like after a bottle. The reflux was being exacerbated by too low an enzyme dose and it took a while to figure everything out. Even now there will be periods where she throws up most things (thankfully, those times are few and far between now). Might be something to ask the docs about. Just a thought. Good luck. I know how hard it is to keep cleaning up everytime she throws up.
