For those who have hemoptysis problems........ something to try

A while back in January i wrote about trying L-Lysine to treat my hemoptysis problems. I had read about a woman who tried it on her teenage son who had problems with coughing up blood and got in touch with her about it and decded to give it a try. She suggested 3000 - 4000 mg per day ( spaced apart during the day) Well the first month i used 3000 mg to start things off and see if it worked and was let down when i didnt notice any less hemoptysis that month. The next month i figured what the heck let's give the 4000 mg a try ( 1000 mg 4 times per day) and it did the trick !
I wanted to share this info with everyone who has problems with hemoptysis, because i know how scary it can be. I have had to have 2 embolizations because of the bleeding ( large amounts those times) and even after that i contiuned to bleed for what seemed the same times every month. For a week i would cough up blood then it would taper off ,then if i coughed too hard ,i would cough up blood, if i leaned over too far, it seemed endless and i was getting more and more desperate to find a way to stop it. I thank God every day that i read what patricia wrote about her son and his using L-Lysine to control the bleeing and now i want everyone else to benefit from it as well.

That's good to know. But it also makes me nervous...did you consult your CF doc about it? Any time you add a suppliment into your routine that is not perscribed it could cause reactions with other meds/suppliments you take. I don't mean to scare you but it is always a good idea to ask the doc.

Hi Eric, my email is......... jinxnick@aol.com feel free to email me anytime..............

Frog Princess....... Yes i always let my doctor know what im up to. I dont start any kind of medicine homeopathic or vitamins or anything without first doing some research on it and then discussing it with my nutritionist and my cf doctor. My doctor was actually in favor of my trying it since everything else we have tried hasnt worked out so well. I also found out that ( from my research and my nutritionist) that L-Lysine is not something that becomes toxic no matter what the dose you take. I am a person who hates to try new things when it comes to medicine especially homeopathic types, but this time after researching it, i realized i had nothing to lose and only to gain if it works.
