french word for cystic fibrosis?

SOOOO... she's here! wooooo! and now how am i supposed to explain the shots and pills...i could always go with the heroin/painkiller addict story, but i dont think that would 'fly' too well with her...

haha, im very open about my CF and i know they have it in france... but i wonder what they call it? and if she's heard of it? hmm... any tips from anyone, but especially those who dont live in the US would be superr<33

Hi Kate,

The French word for CF is "La Fibrose Kystique"

Pronounced Lah Fee-broze Kiss-teek

I'm not sure if that's how you spell it though, lol

i think mucoviscidosis also covers it for a few languages as well.
:)  I don't like the word though - it just says MUCUS to me

hahahh Chris!

it's more like feebrose cystic..not kystic! hehe made me smile. So it's basically baskwards, with the first word being different "feebrose" and the second being the same "cystic". Good luck with that. If you need any help, let me know. I grew up in french Quebec after all! (sherbrooke!)

wow, nothing like a romance language to make the name "cf" sound cooler!

Actually, I could use some info, too on this...I'll soon be working with one or two Frenchmen. I was actually introduced to the company I'm entering when I applied for a French company in Japan!! Hope this doesn't mean I'll have to speak French, though...I was hoping to learn German! (still!)
I will be waiting a few months before I ever mention CF, have no idea what it will do in the job situation.

The French use the term Mucoviscidose. I thought i remembered that from a board i ones visited (with the little French i know hehe). I just googled it and all that came up were French website so i guess it's right.
