I am so sorry you are having this problem. I don't have a g-tube, but took care of alot of them when I was a nurse. Jane has good ideas, keep the area as dry as possible. Change the drain dressing often. Acid from your stomach will certainly irritate it. I had one patient that had such a leak (okay, a profuse leak), we were at wit's end about how to keep her site dry so that it could heal. I felt terrible for her, her skin was so raw and painful. Do you know what the surgeon suggested? Silly putty to be put around the g-tube to try and prevent the gastric juices from getting out!!!! I couldn't believe it, he actually had one of us go and get some silly putty out the machines in the nearest drug store, we cleaned it up, dried it and put it around her site. It did work for awhile....This was some time ago, I know that there are better agents out there that will prevent leaks now. For now, I would do what Jane says and see your doc on Monday. I thought I would share this story because I thought it was unbelievable. Who would have thought silly putty would have a medical use???
Hugs and hopes for you, Jenn <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
