Genetic testing- how long does it generally take to get back

In general, how long does it take to get the genetci testing back? We had it drawn 11 days ago but have no idea how long it will take to get back. Also, is it normal for the doctors to down play CF like symptoms?

We had our labs drawn 2 1/2 weeks ago and we received a message from Ambry that it would be another week or two for results. It all depends on how busy they are with orders and if a mutation does exist-is it one that commonly shows up on the first panels ( like the deltaf508 ) or is it a more uncommon or rare mutation/deletion. But typically it takes 2-4 weeks for a result. My prayers are with your family as you wait. Did you already have a sweat test? Good luck!

My son's ambry test took a few weeks if I recall.

It depends on if you are "lucky" to have the mutation on one of the panels. IF its an unknown mutation then obviously it will take longer. Steve K from Ambry is great about answering ??....just post!
