I know I have posted a topic about this in the past. ghpp was good at first until I didnt know how to renew. I called many times and no one called me back. Just my luck i had to go to the ER for a blocked colon. I am now getting the bills because ghpp denied it. I was a month late to renew. Finally they called me back and said the form is on the website so I sent it in. I had surgery on my nose and head coming up because I had a staph infection inside. The hospital like the ER said ghpp approved everything. When I go get prescriptions they denied it saying I dont have coverage. I have called many times but no one calls me back. Anyone else dealing with something like this? I just hope that surgery doesnt get denied too. I just dont get how they can say its approved and its not. ghpp is useless!

GHPP was never easy, but now that the California state budget has been cut they are dealing with a very reduced staff. I'm applying to get on the program now, a process I began on April 15th, and it's still not approved. What's funny, well it would be if I weren't desperate, is that they have been expediting my application all along at my Tx center's request because that is the last roadblock to my being listed. I hate to think how long the regular process would take.

My brother has had GHPP for a long time and my impression of them is that they will be sticklers about your not re-applying on time and therefore not cover you for that time. But, if the ER said GHPP approved it maybe you should talk to someone at the hospital about that. I'm not sure what department that would be. Ask around, I think it would be worth it. Maybe they could even advocate for you if you push it. Do they have a record somewhere, for example, stating that they got an approval?

Good luck with all that, Barbara

good idea! Not sure if they have anything but they never said it was denied, I just started getting the bills a couple months later. I am going to fight for sure to make sure they are paid because I cant pay them. Been out of work for 2 weeks because of being sick. California needs to get money going to the right places and not the wrong places.

I have GHPP too and both my providers and I have horrible communitation with them. I wasn't sent reapplication paperwork, until I called...and my benifits lapsed. I reapplied and now 2 months later I am not sure if I am in. I called to find out, as I have some appointments coming up. I asked them to call back and nothing. I'm going to call them again today. Despite these problems, I couldn't make it without the program, so I try not to complain too much though I slip a little sometimes. LOL
