I am a 25y/m with CF. I recently got denied by my doctor to be put on immunocal. I really want to start a glut. treatment of some sort wether it be orally or by inhalation. I just need anyone out there who is on it to give me there input and suggest what I do. I am in a stage with CF where I am lost and getting sick of all of the drugs they put me on. I am in realitivly good heath, it just been these last two years that CF seems to be creeping up on me. No matter how well I take care of myself it is always there. I heard a lot of great things about Glutathione!!!!!!!!!! Thanks guys, Nate

Hi Nate,Visit this web site: http://members.tripod.com/uvicf/index.htm and get in touch with Valerie and Dr. Bishop. They will be more than helpful in getting you started with GSH! Their email addresses are listed in there. Look under Research and then click on Glutathione.Good luck!Tammy 43wcf

Nate:Glutathione pills do not work. The glutathione pills are broken down by the digestive system into there three main amino acids - glycine, glutamate and cysteine. Second, inhaled glutathione becomes a drug and clinical trials were performed in Germany with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation involved. They found that inhaled glutathione does not address the level of oxidative stress found in the lung of a cystic fibrosis patient. If you go to "Pubmed" and look up "Glutathione" you can read all about the trial conducted.I'm glad to see you are involved with your doctor regarding the decision making process. I would study through PubMed everything you can about glutathione and then challenge your doctor on the subject of "Immunocal". Did you have your CF Care Physician read about Immunocal in the "Physicians Desk Reference Manual"?

I keep reading that Glutathione taken orally isnt suppsed to be effective, but it sure made a difference for me. A VERY noticeable difference. Dont rule it out till you've tried it. It has also made differences for other cf patients who take it orally. I was skeptical till i tried it, now i cant imagine not using it. For something that " doesnt work" , it sure has made a difference for me ( and others). ~ Diane 39 / cf / diabetes / b.cepacia

I read that the oral pills don't work also, BUT I read this on a site selling the inhaled form! I have heard a lot of people say it helps and so I say don't rule it out till you have tried it...

Hi NateIf I were you I would take a look at the site that someone has already listed here:The Utah Valley Institute of Cystic Fibrosishttp://members.tripod.com/uvicf/index.htmAnd here is a direct link to the message board that we use there:http://members5.boardhost.com/CFGSHOccasionally this board seems to go down. So if you can not get to it the first time...try again soon.I would not take seriously what a lot of the people have said here. There seems to be very different results in different people with Glutathione. Whether oral or inhaled, some of it can make a big or little difference. Please talk to Doctor Dr. Clark Bishop gshtreatment@ihc.com before giving it a try. There are a lot of things you need to keep in mind, like how much you start with dosing yourself. Glutathione does seem to be an airway irritant and I personally experienced some severe asthmatic reactions when I began inhaling GSH. But its worth it. But please contact Dr. Clark Bishop and the people on board before jumping in!Jake Jonesyacobius@yahoo.com

I am taking the "Jarrow" brand ( oral only) and i get it from iherb.com
I take 500 mg with 500mg vit.C w/ each dose 3 or 4 times per day. The Vit.C helps with the uptake of orally ingested gsh. I've been using it since May 5, 2003 and noticed a difference within the first few days of taking it. The first thing i noticed was i had more energy like i used to. I get sick less often, and when i do get sick it isnt as severe as in the past ( thank God). I will always use gsh now that i know how it has helped me.
