H. Saline

Just curious: How often does everyone use the H. Saline? Also, does everyone neb 4 ml? What percentage?

I started w/ twice a day at 4 percent but have <i>reduced to once</i> a day because the treatment takes so long with all the coughing. I'd like to go back to twice a day, but it already takes me almost 3 hours to get ready in the morning. Maybe I should neb less in the morning like 2 or 3 ml's. I do 4 ml's at night.

I do once or twice a day. I put 8ml (max line) in my neb at a time, 5ml of 10% and 3ml of Normal saline .9%. It just works out the easiest way to mix it given my vials. Anyway, I don't worry about wasting it when I am coughing or talking or taking a drink of water, etc I do this for about 30 min, but if I am running late I end sooner. There is usually a little bit left that I wash out. Realitically I probably only get 4 to 5 ml's into my lungs. For convience I waste some, but its only salt water.

Currently my son Josh is nebbing 4ml saline 4 times a day while he's in the hospital. He HATES it because of all the coughing and gagging but it truly amazing what comes out. He's finally feeling better.


Last night a very aggressive nurse wanted to wake him up at 2:00 am to do the saline neb- YA RIGHT She tried again at 6- no luck<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Holy Cow! I can't imagine. That makes me sea sick to think about.
