Charlotte,

You asked for it....I am 30 years old and do have CF. I was diagnosed at 6 weeks of age at Johns Hopkins due to failure to thrive. My PFT's remained "pretty normal" until I reached the age of 20 or so. They are O.K. now hanging anywhere from mid 60-50's depending on how I feel. I work full time and have since I graduated college in 1995 as a respiratory therapist(I am now a regional manager over WV and VA for a home equipment company). I have since then obtained 2 more degrees (my last an MBA) and plan on never sitting in another classroom. I am very happily married (almost 2 years) to the most perfect woman I have ever encountered. She is a nurse and my number 1 reason for living. She is beautiful, smart, funny and is very supportive of me, not to mention she makes it real easy while during I.V.'s at home. I haven't been admitted to the hospital in over 10 years but I do home IV's 1-2 times a year. I treat my disease aggressively (I take any proven meds out there) but put most of my energy in exercise and faith in Jesus.

Anyway.... your brief synopsis of me. You are more than welcome to email or PM me if you have questions you need answered or just want to talk about life with CF.

Hey Luke,

You sound as if you're doing good. My daughter was also diagnosed at 6 weeks. Came as a massive shock, but we are getting our heads round it slowly. We also have another who is 4 years old without CF. They are absolutely beautiful. My daughter has cultured Pseudo, first time at 10 months old, then clear after 4 months. Cultured it again 12 months later. Had 3 clear cough swabs, then 4th one Pseudo showed up again! So she's been using neb since last October. She is doing absolutely amazing and has a wonderful personality.

Thanks for your post earlier also regarding me being a worried mother! I know there is so much negative about CF but I just really try and home in on the positives and live for each day. I feel that I am extremely lucky 2 have 2 beautiful daughters and try and stay as strong as I can.

Hopefully speak to you again soon.

Take care.
