HOME AT LAST

Josh just came home tonight!!!!!! YAY us.

It was another one of "those" days.. go home?/stay/go/stay. During rounds, the team said ok go. Later Josh got a fever so they said stay. Then they said the fever is probably from the rifabutin (new med) so we can go. They are still waiting for testing on the tigecycline on the bacteria. It is so new, it wasn't included in the sensitivity groups. It it is not sensitive, then we will try something on the list, but then he'll have to go back in for a few days. YUCK

Josh is relieved to be home, but he's exhausted and numb. He described it as being nowhere, he knows he should be out of the hospital, but he doesn't know how to be at home anymore. Weird, I'm sure some of you have had similar experiences when you are in the hospital for a while.

His new medicine will be rifabutin capsule once a day, oral bactrim twice a day and tigecycline IV twice a day. We'll see how it goes. Now we have to work on getting him to gain some weight.

Thannks everyone for you kindness.

So glad to hear he's home, Jane.

When Rip was in for a long time he too found home kind of strange at first.
It just "wore off" in a few days.
I'm sure it will for Josh too.

Give him my best.
