Home from hospital....

Well our 5 yr old had his 3rd sinus surgery Monday, October 9th, He went into the hospital on October 2nd for IV's and just got out this afternoon. Doing well. Now we are starting those fun nasal irrigations, ocean spray etc., Any one have any suggestions? Last time we had to go back into surgery and they had to put him asleep to get the "gunk" out of his nose because he was so hard to irrigate. This time he seems to be standing it a little better. Tonight we had him in the shower with lots of hot steam and then irrigated his nostrils. I thought about using the vaporizer, but I was thinking that is not a good thing to use for cfer's ?? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

My sons both gag and cough during irrigations so we don't do them as often as we should (after surgery and with bad colds mostly). The ocean spray works just as well if you use it several times a day.
We were told vaporizers are a no-no because of the possiblity of airborne bacteria.

I don't have any great advice, but I know its tough. Good luck and I hope he feels better soon.

We have used Rinoflow for irragations. It is like a nasal nebulizer. It worked really well. We just added to part of the treatment routine.
Now that Cory is older, we use Sinus rinse (he doesn't mind the iragations now).
Cory swears by sinus rinse.
