Hormone Replacement Therapy

I know, many CFer's dream of living long enough to go through menopause, huh?

For the few of you who are already facing it, what have you been told about hormone replacement? I'll be asking my CF dr. in a few weeks if they have feelings about it, but I was just wondering if anyone here knows much about CFers taking it. My Gyn said she really hesitated in adding that to the batch unless I'm really struggling with the hot flashes. Well, I'm having multitudes of hot flashes each hour and they are miserable!

What do you know about this?

Quite frankly I never thought about it. Not because of not living long enough to worry about it, but assuming/hoping that I wouldnt have the same negative affects from Menopause as I do with my period.

I wonder if ANYONE has researched any of this type of stuff yet <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif" border="0">

Interesting....I just asked my doc about this because of the new research that has come out re: women and FEV1. There is some recent research and I will try to talk intelligently about it. Basically increased estrogen levels affect FEV1 in women which MAY account for the higher morbidity for women and some marked decreases in FEV1 during our cycle. I asked my doc how that will affect women going into menopause and she said there will have to be further research done. They only recommend progesterone sp? as birth control in CFers because of the risk of blood clots. I am wondering if some form of BC like that would help. I wish I had more info. for you; but, I think this is something that needs to be looked at very seriously because there are many of us approaching menopause.
