Hospital beds

Kj needed to be in hospital last monday but no beds available.

I am still waiting to hear of one.

They said maybe friday.

It makes me soooo cross that she has to wait a whole week to get iv's.

She has lost 2kg and has had a 10% drop in lung function.

It is all sooooooo frustrating!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It doesn't usually take my hospital too long to find a bed. Maybe she can start on home iv's instead of waiting any longer. Just a thought.

I have had to wait a longtime for beds at times... but since I don't like the hospital I did not mind <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0">. However, at times when I have been ill I have just gone to the ER and was admitted through it...

So if you want Kj in the hospital just go through the ER and they will find a space.

A week sounds kinda long! If I remember right, my pediatric clinic used to admit me through clinic as an emergency if I came in sick and with bad numbers (for me). I'd ask 'em. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0"> Hope she gets in soon!

5 days. and the only reason i got one after that time was because the health minister, newspaper, cf association, emergency co ord, nurse and doctor were all hounded. if they werent i would have waited at least a week or 2. it is very frustrating. while they say 'no beds today' you just get sicker and sicker. are you able to give home iv's to her if she is too ill to do them herself?

I dont usually have problems getting in. IF I need to be in & they are full then I do the ER thing. They have to rearrange things for emergency admits. I, personally, hate doing this. It becomes a much lengthier process.

Thank you all for your advise <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

I phoned up the docs office this morning and we have a hospital bed now, yahhhh finally!!!

If it didn't happen today then i would have went through emergency like you all suggested.

They didn't want Kj to do home hospital as she has lost so much weight and lung function. Which is unusual for her. They want to do all the diabetes tests. I dont think that that is the problem with the weight though as she isnt excessively thirsty or peeing heapz.

so here goes for another 10 day tuneup <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif" border="0">

My thoughts are still going out to Lindsey for a quick recovery. I'm sooooo excited for her!!

Good news they didn't find psuedo in her last sputum, but they are going to treat her for it just in case. So fingers crossed its gone.
