How do you know when someone posted in their blog?

I was just wondering how we are to know when someone posted in our own blog or when they posted in their blog?

I am always checking the same ones over and over again.. to see if they posted... I don't post everyday either, but it would be nice if ppl wanted the option to 'flag' theirs to let us know.

any ideas?
