I'm glad to hear that. I asked the folks in clinic Thursday if they had a "Plan B" should the situation in our city suddenly collapse. After New Orleans, it's frightening to acknowledge how dependent many CF patients are on a well-maintained social order, which includes access to electricity, meds, oxygen, doctors, etc. Many of us would go south pretty dramatically after a few weeks -- let alone a few months -- without these necessities. This is true for other people as well, but from what we've seen this week, it's clear every vulnerable group ought to prepare to meet its own requirements and not expect the government or anyone else to magically take care of things. Are we prepared as a group? The clinic people said, "Good question" -- which means, I'm afraid, "No." How about individually? How long could you or I last?
I really hope Gulf Coast people who participate in this forum are all safe and healthy today, whether they can read this or not.
