I WAS RESEARCHING NEW MEDICATIONS BEING STUDIED FOR CF AND FOUND A FEW ARTICLES ABOUT SAYING SOME STUDIES HAD BEEN DONE WITH CF PATIENTS AND HIGH DOSES OF IBUPROFEN AND THAT IS SLOWED DOWN THE PROGRESSION OF THE DISEASE. I WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE TAKES IBUPROFEN ON A REGULAR BASIS ?

I'm 19 and I've been on high doses of Ibuprofen for 6-8 yrs. I am currently very healthy and haven't been in the hospital for my lungs for years. I also had bouts with nasal polyps when I was younger. It seems likely to me that the Ibuprofen has had something to do with my good health. My only problem is that if I don't take the Ibuprofen right on time I get bad headaches.

My doctor has me on 800mg of ibuprophen 3 times a day. I can't honestly say that I take them all the time, but when I need them they definately help.

IB therapy has been used for many years. It works, is an anti-inflamatory, helps w/ joint pain, ect. There are a few drawbacks: first, it does a number on your liver. Therapy should be monitered with frequent liver function tests. Second, it can cause stomach ulcers. Third, you should NOT use it if your use TOBI regularly. I was on it for about seven years and have gone off. I take Vioxx for joints, tylenol for pain instead. Debbie22 yr old w/ CF
