Imperial College in London

My Grandson, Garrett, who is 8 years old, is on the lung transplant list at Boston Childrens. However, I just found out the the Imperial College in London is doing stem cell research and has targeted cystic fibrosis and pulmonary hypertension. Not only are they trying to grow lung lobes, but also working on the repair of damaged lungs. The grown lungs will be a genetic match so anti-rejection drugs won't be needed. So there is hope out there!Jean Hannon

Sounds wonderful. Eight is just so young to be requiring a transplant. Do u mind me asking what age Garrett was diagnosed and if he has lung problems for the entire eight years or did it come on quickly?Has he got any particular bugs which cause him trouble? I am wishing him well with all my being.Nene
