infection with no color

hey all,

just a quick question...has anyone ever had a bad infection but cough up stuff with virtually NO color at all? I've been feeling crummy and coughing a whole lot...I haven't been breathing that great at night or in the mornings either. My chest sometimes aches like I have an infection (or maybe it' just irritation from coughing so much)but I'm coughing up clear sutff for the most part. The darkest the stuff gets is maybe like, sunshine yellow (lol). Any feedback?

there's probably so much inflammation that you're not able to get the sputum up.

I would agree with the inflamation. And just being overall "full" of mucus. It may not be infected but it may just be overflowing in there. I would call the dr and see about pfts and maybe ivs to help clear it out. Or just up the cpt that you are doing. See what he/she says <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Hi Erin,
Listen to NoExcuses! My son is doing the same thing right now. Feeling progressively worse and having less and less color to his mucus. His PFTs are down. He goes back to the doc on Tuesday and we will be admitted for ivs. The clindmycin and TOBI he is on is just not cutting it, and now he can't even clean himself out when I do his airway clearance. If you feel like it's in there, just not coming up, then it probably is. Good luck!
