Insulin injections and ovulation??

Hi...

Ok, so this is for the women with CFRD who give themselves shots of insulin...

I've been noticing that around the time I should be ovulating my skin gets really really tight... like I can literally push the needle in and it doesn't pierce my skin! So, I push harder and harder and finally with a little "pop" sound it does go in. So, I'm wondering whether anyone else notices a change in their skin with cycle changes? Maybe I'm just weird, but I've been noticing it for months and just now seemed to put my ovulation and skin "toughness" to a correlation. At no other time is it this difficult to give myself a poke. Nor does it hurt as bad as during ovulation. Weird? Anyone else???

I dont notice that, i have something far more odd happen. Usually a day or two before my periiod and sometimes around the time of ovulation, i dont have to take insulin at all and can eat all i want and still have great blood sugars.I have learned over the years to check my blood sugar first thing in the morning and then eat something and then check again. If they have gone up, then i take my insulin, if they havent i try eating again, if they dont go up after that, i know not to take insulin that day. Things that make you go hmmmmm

I don't get skin toughness, but like Diane, I do notice that there are days where I don't need insulin because my sugar won't go up. I was told when I was diagnosed that my pancrease did produce some insulin once and awhile, so maybe that's the cause for my not needing insulin sometimes - that my pancrease every once and awhile decides to work. Go figure.

I don't get skin toughness, but like Diane, I do notice that there are days where I don't need insulin because my sugar won't go up. I was told when I was diagnosed that my pancrease did produce some insulin once and awhile, so maybe that's the cause for my not needing insulin sometimes - that my pancrease every once and awhile decides to work. Go figure.

I do get the occasional tough skin moments and I know the "pop" you are talking about. I have never correlated it to a specific thing though. This makes me curious though. I will say that I don't know much about when I ovulate my cycle is so finicky sometimes I have mini periods 1-2 days each week sometimes I go all month and nothing til the week I am supposed to have it lol.

I just wanted to say that yes sometimes my skin does seem tougher than usual to do the injection with - I will try to see if I notice a correlation with the time frame and all.
