Insurance Coverage

Hello all,

My question that I would like to put out there is, does any one know of any private insurance that accepts CF patients. My husband does not qualify for any state or government programs since he is able to work and the insurance he has through his job doesn't cover much of anything, even without CF. If anyone has any information they can provide I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

My understanding is that all insurance can not outright deny you for CF, but they can put a limit on benefits (according to the policy not just the condition) & apply a waiting period for pre existing conditions.

Either way its usually quite costly in general to have private insurance.

There are programs through the different pharmaceutical companies that can help with meds etc if you qualify, but the doctors or hospitals wouldnt be covered. Many hospitals have some type of charity funding available which you can inquire about.

Here is a link to some programs:

I had a Comprehensive Health Insurance Pool (CHIPS) through BCBS. It was for pre-exsisting. Now that I'm in Arizona I no longer can carry it. And Arizona has no programs like that. But ask the SW in your husbands CF Center, they should know of anything out there like this....I would hope anyway!

We searched like crazy at the beginning of the summer. We contacted dozens of agencies and at the mention of CF they could not get off the phone soon enough.

Blessings,
Missa
