Insured People in CALIFORNIA

Just wanting to take roll call of those who live in California, have GHPP and that are married.

I have a few questions for you.

1. Is GHPP your primary insurance provider?

2. If you use GHPP as secondary coverage, who is your primary carrier?

3. Does GHPP cover all left over bills after your primary carrier is done paying what they want to?
--Are you left with any financial troubles b/c of the situation? Please share.
--Have they ever stuck you with a bill that your primary carrier didn't cover?
--Have you had a good experience with them as your secondary?

3. If you're married and have GHPP, how does that work with your combined income?

I'd love to hear people's situation on this (again!). Thanks!

I'm not married, but I can answer your questions...

1) GHPP is not my primary, it's my secondary
2) My primary is HealthNet
3 I've had a good experience with GHPP as my secondary. I never see a bill because if my primary doesn't cover it, it immediately gets sent to GHPP, and they take care of it. I've had GHPP for 2 years and haven't had a problem yet. My only concern with them is, what else, their customer service. It's hard to get them to return phone calls too. Other than that, I think it's a good program to have. I hope some married folks can help you!

Cheers,
Barbara

Hey Barbara,

Do you have co-pays at the pharmacy or doctor's office? Or does GHPP take care of that? I haven't signed up for GHPP yet. It's on my list of things to do...

Hey Tara, how's it going?

No co-pays for the doctor, but I do have the usual co-pays for prescriptions. Also, there is a fee you'll need to pay for GHPP, and they base it on your current income. I think if you're not working, it's free... although I think there probably is a fee if you're married. Not sure how that works...
