IPV machine

Hey Guys I just had a quick question.. I am in the hospital and I was having trouble with some mucus plugs. Yesterday they started me on the IPV machine with hypertonic saline.. It seems like it helped though I call the machine satan on stick because it feels like the same way it felt when I was intubated..

Do any of you have the IPV machine at home.. To me it was way more effective then anything.. I am currently using the new encourage system and the old Vest.. not the 104 version...

So far I like the older version of the vest better...but as much I hate IPV machine I get the most airway clearance out of it

Anyone have input

I have it. I got it a while ago and alternate using it with the vest 104. It works well for me but I also enjoy having the option of the vest b/c 1) the IPV is a bit harsh when you have plueral pain, 2) the IPV really shouldn't be used more than a couple of times a day, I've been told, and 3) the vest is easier. I generally do the vest twice a day and the IPV once in the middle of the day, all with HTS.

Also if you suffer from pneumothorax at all be careful with the IPV.
