reflux and gerd? Is it only infants that has reflux and children and adults have gerd?

I have no idea the answer to your question, but it reminded me of
something the PT told me yesterday -- that our kids can have SILENT
reflux and we can't know that they don't have it (sorry for the
double negative).  She encouraged us to do CPT at some degree
of elevation, just in case my daughter has reflux that we don't
know about.  I'm not sure if reflux can turn into gerd or not.

And for what it's worth, another tid-bit of info:

The Hill-Rom nurse told me that anyone with diagnosed reflux stands a much better chance of getting approval for a vest because many of the manual CPT positions are head down -- this can cause an aspiration and nobody wants that..... so the vest should be approved because it can be done in an upright position.

I know that you have to have some measurable evidence of reflux to be classified with GERD. Sami was diagnosed with reflux but it did not qualify as GERD. As I understood it, GERD is more severe reflux.

They also have a very detailed and cool message board forum section with dozens of parents posting questions and experiences related to reflux and GERD. They were a lifesaver for me when my daughter had GERD early on. My kids were just tested for reflux (impedence probe) even though they never had symptoms of reflux. Their doctor wanted to check that because of their recent lung issues. We haven't gotten the results yet.
