IV with Tobramycin

Hi,I´m on Iv at the moment and get tobramycin. I know, that it can cause difficulties with the ears.Since yesterday I hear a sound in my ears and I don´t know, if it is a reaction to the tobramycin.Does anyone of you know, if this could be? I will ask my doc tomorrow, but maybe someone knows something..ThanksUli from Germany,41

it can cause a ringing in the ears or muffled hearing. make sure your doc does tobramycin levels every 3 days.

Uli, Have they done blood tests to check the level of Tobramycin in your blood? If that is ok then it probably isn't Tobra related, but you should probably tell your doctor about it. Maybe you could get a hearing test or something. I am on Tobramycin a lot and have lost some hearing in the high frequency range. Just out of curiosity, what part of Germany are you from? Uli, Yes, I am coming to Germany for vacation. I am going with my boyfriend and his family, who have family living in Durach and Berchtesgaden. We will be spending time in Munich as well. I have never been to Germany and am very excited? Have you ever been to the US? Mary (21 w/CF)

Hi Mary,yes, I have been to the US about 10 times. I came back 3 weeks ago from a trip through the southern part ( Charlotte, Atlanta, Mobile, New Orleans, Memphis, Chattanooga). Before I have been to Florida, Boston, San Francisco, Phoenix, San Diego, New York, Washington D.C.,Niagara Falls, Chicago, Las Vegas and many more.
