so i read that his kidneys aren't doing well and that is a common thing post tx, right? what i want to know is what does it mean if he gets renal failure? is it a permanent thing or could it be restored ever?

I hope you do not mind me trying to answer your question. I know of a lady friend who went on dialysis after her double lung /cf but got off after a couple of days. I guess it depends on your kidneys going into the transplant. Mine have been fine all along.

I am sure that he will be fine but he might have a longer stay than normal but in the end it is worth it all.

There are sometimes complications and that is to be expected.
