You said that you show no inflammation cause you are too immunosuppresed to show inflammation. You've been on the steroids your whole life? How are your lungs? Are you healthy in that aspect of your life? Let me know, please....

She is suppose to be starting her new semester on Monday & was hoping to be in/out in of the hospital in order to do that so hopefully we will hear from her soon. The steroids she has been on her whole life have not been for CF. She has other health issues & had a late CF dx.

I'm one of Jennifer's friends so I can tell you what I know. She was diagnosed with Addisons disease which causes her to be on high doses of steriods just for it. Then not to long ago she was diagnosed with cf. So all the steroids she is on I would GUESS makes inflamation not show up. She likes to say she has a bad cold lol. I think she is pretty healthy considering she got "lucky" with two diseases. She constantly on the go, working and school, such a hard worker. She has her occasional flare up like now. She did culture MRSA not long ago. Thats part of what I know. Jen I hope you dont mind me talking for you.

I read an update about Jenn from someone that had got a hold on her at the hospital. She sounded better on the phone then she did a few days back. And she feels a little better also. She hopes to be out on Tuesday.

Keil... Okay..Sorry it took me so long to get back to you but ..what the hell what??? I don't even know what your question is.... I was in the hospital and am now home on IVS.. my lung function over all is good..however.. I am in the hospital about every three months for at least a week and also at home IVS...

I have not been on steroids for my whole life just the past four to five years since then the inflmation in my lungs has vanished..sort of like the same effect that they are shooting for on high doses of advil. My lungs still get infected all the time...but I am not stuck with damage from the infection.. If I didn't have addison's disease they wouldn't allow me to stay on steroids just for this reason..but being that I need steroids to stay alive that is the one and I mean ONE benefit of being on steroids all the time...

Did I answer your question right..?? Cause right now I am feeling very prednisone and I have to try like Heaven to get my butt ready for school tomorrow... after missing the first two days//

But really.. I am not sure why your post started off as what the hell.. if kind of caught me off guard... so let me know if I answered you alright

Thanks to the replies and Manda thanks for being my friend

Thanks Mel...

Keil.. I was thinking that maybe you were asking about the inflammation.... Steroids has many uses..One of the uses is it is an antiinflamatory..it also is an immune suppressor... That is why you are given Pred..post transplant...it supresses your bodies ability to cause rejection, iand inflamation..

Now the nurse is here.. Got to go..

Jenn, I am so happy you are home! I know it sucks that you have to be in the hospital so much....I am stubborn and try anything to avoid being admitted, but know when to cry uncle. As for prednisone, my rheumy put me on mega doses when they suspected vasculitis with me to decrease the inflammation. They don't use it too much on me, I am just too sensitive to it and have alot of adverse reactions. I know with your Addisons it is a necessity and you need it everyday to replace the cortisol you don't produce and with lung trouble, boy I don't blame you one bit for feeling prednisonal! I wish you a speedy recovery from this last flare, hope those IV's do the trick and don't over do it...I know, easier said than done, especially if you are a nursing student. My hugs and prayers go out to you....the other Jenn <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
