Oh hello! How nice to see this post. Fun. Thanks for asking.

I flew home last night. Yay. Yes, your own bed is an amazing thing after the hospital bed for 2 weeks. I slept great last night. I'm feeling better now and much more clear. I carried one heavy backpack, a computer bag and rolled a suitcase from the airport to the car and was finally not out of breath along the way. I really feel great. That is often how I measure my breathing capacity and health. I was not anywhere near being out of breath. I'm getting excited to start exercising again.

My port is healing more every day. I am looking at 2 months of home IVs now and hopefully after that time they will determine that the meds are killing the bug without any nasty side effects!

Thanks Laura and Risa for asking!

What's your bug, and why so long on IV's? I'm thinking maybe I should have had IV's that long. I was only on for two weeks and a couple days after I stopped I started feeling crappy again.

Hi Jon, My bug is called 'mac' and the typical treatment for it is 6-12 months. When I'm in for normal tune ups, I usually only stay for 2 weeks and then 2 weeks of home IVs. Most of the time, that used to do the trick pretty well. I think everyone is so different with what med duration works for them and how their doctors want to do it. You should tell your doc that you're not feeling good again and maybe he could prolong the meds to make sure everything is out of there. Good luck!

Laura, I do the hospital/doctor thing in So.Cal but live in No.Cal, so I fly back and forth, otherwise the drive is 8 hrs. It's a drag but I really like my doctor's care when I'm sick, and respect how they care for me and don't want to risk that with another clinic these days.

Thanks Amy!
