levaquin side effects?

I am on a treatment of 2 months Levequin (500mg/daily) and also inhaled Colistin 2 x/daily. I have taken Levequin in the past but never had a problem with it, however when I first started taking it a couple of weeks ago I experienced nausea and after taking it for a few days that seemed to stop but now it is starting again and it begins within an hour or two after I take it and I have a feeling of weakness and some nausea and almost feel so weak that I might faint. I make sure to take eat right after I eat a meal. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? This feeling last for a hour or two then I feel back to normal.

I just got off of a 2 week course of it- for the first 3 or so days- I couldnt keep anything down & I wanted to die I felt so sick. Also, does it give you horrible dry mouth? it did for me. I guess its a real strong drug & it will takes its toll on you.

When I first cultured pseudomonas (about 2 years ago) I tried inhaled Tobi and Cipro. The treatment was set up for 1 month for Tobi and Cipro (500mg/daily). I lasted barely one month with the Tobi (side effects) and only two weeks with the Cipro (really bad side effects that increased the longer I stayed on it). Well, long story --but short version is after months and months of antibiotics including a two week hospitalization. My culture was negative for almost six months! But when I cultured again, I suggested trying Cipro at a lower dose and that time I lasted at least six weeks with it. I know that this has been my first experience with the whole pseudomonas thing so my doctor is trying to erradicate it. However my concern is overdoing with all these anitibiotics. I have not been sick at all even at the time of culturing pseudo.(except for the side effects). The treatment courses have been for 2 or 3 months at a time. When I was in the hospital I was given IV Tobi and after several days on it I started feeling very light headed and to the point of not being about to sit up. It was determined that I was given too much Tobi. Hmmm. Hit some one over the head -- I am beginning to consider it!!!! I also had a bronco during my hosptial stay and the culture was negative for pseudo but positive for aspergillus. I was not treated for aspergillus however I am allergic to molds. this I am concerned about! So anyway, just trying to see what the norm is for taking antibiotics rather it be an attempt to erradicate or to knock down the pseudo.

I too had side effects with the Levaquin...it was prescribed by an ENT as an alternative to surgery. I was VERY dizzy and was told not to finish the Rx.

The side effect of Levaquin that my husband had that made him crazy was that his Achilles tendons would just "blow" without his doing anything.
He hated that.....not only would he be having an exacerbation and therefore be having trouble breathing, but all of a sudden he wouldn't be able to walk

Before I reacted to the Levaquin, yes, food was hard to handle...made me ill for the duration of the treatment. What was wild was when I had an anaphylactic reaction to the med, I had taken it for awhile prior to the reaction, but all of a sudden, my body went nuts on it...swelling, hives...the works. Luckily, I was in the hospital being treated for pyelonephritis at the the time and receiving the med under watchful eyes. Cipro does the same thing to me.... Kind of limits some of the meds that are effective against PA huh? I have also heard of people experiencing severel joint pain with Levaquin, especially in the knees. I was really dizzy taking Levaquin and since I am on my feet all day I had to go off it. I couldn't handle how it just happened out of nowhere.

I would see about Cipro, my doctors put me on it after the Levaquin even though I am technically resistant to it and I felt much better
