Likelihood of Pregnancy..

O.K.. I am in a bit of a predicament. My g/f is wanting to take a pregnancy test. I know something like 98% of C.F. males are sterile; but lets say for chance I am one of those 2% that isn't.An then I am also post transplant...wouldn't all the drugs (prednisone/prograf/rapamune & countless others) have an effect on my production/count if i even do have a count to begin w/?And YES protection was used.Just those things are never full proof; or should I just be suspicious of her possibly being wayward. Any replies/thoughts on the subject are appreciated.

Anything is possible with you as far as fertility. If you and your girlfriend are in a serious relationship, you should trust her. Sit her down and have a long talk with her about how you feel and the very low possiblity that you could have fertile sperm!

2% is a very small chance, but she very well could be. My husband and I haven't used protection in 2 years and I haven't gotten pregnant. We had a few mistakes here and there in the 5 years I was on the pill & nothing happened. If she insists on taking a test, let her & then it will clear things up. From a womans point of view I would encourage her to take a test just to ease her mind.

Dear Anonymous.If you are worried about her cheating you then maybe you should and get a sperm count test done. When you get the results back you will know if you can produce a child or not, and if she is pregnant and you suspect that it is not yours you have every right to get a paternity test done. With you having CF and using condoms I would say that the chance of you producing a child are slim to none.Dave 29 w/cf

Your CF clinic can give you a sperm test. They usually want to give on to adult males anyway just so you and they know if you can have kids or not. Let her take a Pregnacy test. If its posity I would say the next step would be for you to get a sperm test done, you can tell her your doing that or not. That way you will have peace of mind too, knowing if you are cabable of having children or not. Does she know its only a 2% chance you can have children? Maybe you need to tell her, but don't accuse her of anything jsut yet. She is probably jsut as scared as you are. She may just be late. A girl can be late for many many reasons, one is stress, and then stressing over being preg or not can make you even more worried.Amanda
