lung function vs. body size

I was just wondering how many of you were actually told about the size of your lungs causing low or high fev1 scores... I k now when i was younger the doctor actually told my mom that my fev1 would never hit 100 % because i generally have small lungs, now this makes sense to me.. not everyone is proportioned exactly the same, which is basically why you can go over 100% (or this is my understanding) also because the numbers they have are just predictions based on averages of your height, weight, age and sex. So it's not perfect. Cause basically i've been at 50% for years and years and have dropped down to about 40% and at times even 30%.. i know damage from prior infections can come into play with scarring but i wonder if anyone else has actually heard anything from their doctor specifying whether or not their lungs are bigger or smaller than average. It makes sense to me because like i said i've been at about 50% (give or take) for at least 10 years and only in recent have i really felt the effect (more so than usual anyway)
