Lung X-ray showing improvement

I had a check up today and had an x-ray taken to my lungs. The doctor was very surpised as the improvement is huge, he said. An x-ray taken last year showed lots of inflamation that has since disappeared. He said this is rare.
Have you had this happent to you or is it, in fact, unusual?
