Yeah, that's a post-tx thing with me though, it might be related to tx.. though not 100% sure.
I've found that if you have seriously bad muscle pains (charlie horse type cramping) then usually it's lack of magnesium.
As far as I know CFers aren't particularly low on magnesium, though I might be lying.
With something like magnesium it's best to get a complete blood count before hand and have your doctor look at it make sure your magnesium levels are low before taking it.

I cannot remember where I gathered the info from, but I too believe pwcf needs extra magnesium -- I was told that it is something that is hard for most people to absorb anyway and therefore we are getting our magnesium from a specialist who can order pharmaceutical grade magnesium -- don't know what that means but I trust her so I buy it :)

Oh, and another way to get magneium into your body is to soak your feet or your entire body in epsom salt -- very cheap !

My mother read a long time ago on another board all about magnesium. There is this woman who has done TONS of research for her son on it. Apparently Mg gets depleted by pretty much all antibiotics, and things like albuteral, etc. She and her son both take supplements. The thing is, when they test your blood in clinic it only shows very low magnesium levels, but there is another test that is more accurate and not a blood test, and when done on CF patients almost always shows we are deficient.

Anyway i take about 400 mg's a day and when i do i feel better

Sometimes i dont take it because if i am on a cleanout it is hard- you cant take it near antibiotics or things like prilosec so the spacing gets almost impossible.

I still say talk to your doctor about it before adding it to your daily regime.
Without definite resources, journals, etc. Your best bet is to talk to your doctor before hand.
