Malabsorption?

I have a 3 y/o with Cf has been very healthy and is a Df08. He currently weighs 25lbs and his MD's are very concerned about his weight. We have tried both Creon and Ultralase. The Creon seemed to work better but he takes 6 creon 20 with meals and still has oily, foul smelling stools. He eats plenty but just won't absorb it. Any suggestions? What worked for you guys?

Thanks

ask your doctor about Proton Pump Inhibators (PPI's) such as Prilosec, Nexium, Prevacid or Aciphex.

These tend to enhance the activity of enzymes.

Wow, that seems like a LOT of enzymes for such a little guy. DS take 5 pancrease mt4s and he's 4. I do know of a family in our city who had similar issues -- they started going to U of MN and doctors there put him on oral mucomyst. The mom said it seemed to really help cut thru all of the mucus in his intestinal tract -- digest his food better, gain weight. At least that's her theory... Hopefully others here have some suggestions, too!
