Medical Bracelets and Organ Donors.

Just curious.

I know with the whole organ donor issue you have to make your relatives aware of your wishes so they can follow through with it after you die. Can we get it engraved on our medical bracelets and would that work? Does anyone know? I figure it would be there at all times as proof that you do want your organs to be donated, I just don't know if it is something that hospital staff would look at after you have been admitted and passed. It's a good thought...I think.

When I signed up, it was through the states license plate program. They issue a sticker for your drivers license. The license should be looked at by someone to assist in determining identification. Check with PENNDOT to see if they do the same.

Thanks David!!! I am gonna get me an organ donor plate for my car!!!

My whole thing is what if you don't have your identification on you? Say for instance you run outside real quick for something and you don't have anything on you, no wallet nothing. But you have your medical bracelet on. What if something happens to you and you die. How will they know you are an organ donor? That is why I was thinking of the bracelet <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> Or maybe I am thinking WAY too much into this!!!!!!

Maybe they should just make organ donor bracelets in general! Hmmmm I may be on to somehting here LOL!!!

The chances of medical personnel seeing your license are almost none. The police always take everything. That is why it is SO important for people to make sure their loved ones know their wishes!!! Many states are trying to make the organ donor list computerized to help the situation.
