Medicare or Private

I know there have been posts about this before but...

I currently have primary insurance through my employer. I am only working part-time and still receive partial SSDI, so still have Medicare. I also have the State-funded GHPP insurance (in CA).

I have been contemplating dropping my employer-provided insurance and relying solely on Medicare and GHPP. Doing so would mean more money in my paycheck (since the premium wouldn't be deducted anymore). I have to jump through a lot of hoops with my employer-provided insurance, things I need aren't always covered, co-pays for non-formulary meds are ridiculous, etc. My thought is, if I have to jump through hoops anyway, might as well do it for free.

Medicare has it's own share of problems too though. There are pros and cons either way so I'm looking for other's experiences or thoughts on this. I'm really on the fence.
