Hi Charlotte - thought I would let you know how my check up went. I asked my doc about what mutations I have, and he is getting back to me on that one - so I don't have an answer for you on that one yet.

My doc is putting me on inhaled Tobra for 2 weeks, as I've still not been able to kick this productive cough I've had for the past 3 weeks. If the Tobra works, then I will be on it one month on, one month off for the next while.

I got my cultures back as well, and found out that I am growing 3 differnt strains of Pseudo - +4 mucod, +2 non mucod, and 1 non mucod, as well as Aspergilius (I believe SeanDavis was growing this as well).

I also found out (and my CF nurse was very surprised, due to my age), that because I was never on any preventative medications growing up, and the fact that I only went on oral meds when I had an active chest infection, and didn't start inhaled meds till I was 15 for active chest infections, that out of 10 antibiotics I can use for Pseudo, Staph, etc, 9 of them work! I am only resistant to 1 antibiotic, and I haven't used that med since I was 7! My nurse says this is a very good thing - as I will be able to use these meds for infections for quite a long time without having to go in hosptial for IVs for a very long time!

So all in all, it was a very good appt! I left knowing that I am in very good health for my age! Let me know if you have any other questions at all! Have a great night!
