meuconeum ilieus Scar

I had two illeus operations as a baby and now have a deep wide scar across my stomach that even doctors say looks bad.. I am on a waiting list for a reversion (plastic surgery) and want to know if anyone else has had similar? Anyone with adhesions or any complications from their scar (pains etc). I have to be careful with clothing choices as it's really ugly - My b/f doesn't like it cos he says it makes me self-conscious but otherwise he's okay with it. Still I cathc him glancing at it somtimes and occasionall in bed he thinks the lumps made both above and below are a breast! He quickly realises and moves his hand!

It'd be really great to hear from anyone with similar...
Good health and love to all<img src="i/expressions/rose.gif" border="0">

Hi,
I'm sorry to hear that your scar was poorly done. I had meconeum ileus at birth as well. Then, when I was 7, they went in the same spot to remove adhesions and a blockage. I guess my scar looks ok, I have never been told contrary. I used to be more self conscious about my scar (like when changing for gym in hs.) Well, best of luck!

My husband had that when he was just a day old, a second operation when he was a few months old. Scar doesn't bother me, but then he's a guy, and that probably makes a difference cosmetic wise. Also, he has had numerous surgeries for adhesions causing blockages (first when he was about 19). Do you think CF'ers have more of a problem with adhesions? His last surgeon was a quack, and royally messed him up. The last few blockages we have just waited it out. Good luck to you all.

It's me again - the original poster...so sorry to hear you boufriend is still having blockage problems with his intestines. Sounds painful! I have 2nd operation at 5 1/2 months after 1st op at 2 days old. I am grateful for my life being saved and all - Aren't we all....- but still hate the scar, although my opinion of it changes every few weeks or so I will go to the pool or beach with bikini only... It's their choice to look - and most of the people are used to it now.
Good luck with those obstructions! and thanks for posting
