mixing ampho B for inhalation

so i come home thinking that i would have instructions to mix this compund for my new lungs. guess what i thought wrong..... no instructions. i called the nurse on charge but i dunno if she gave me the dosage right b/c i tried it and it was so harsh on my throat i couldn't finish it all!!! i need some help..... she stated to take 1.8ml of sterile water and put it in the 50 mg ampho b powder. then go ahead and mix then put 4ml of sterile in after that. is this right or wrong?!? can anyone help me b4 the mornin when i have to do this awful treatment again!!!! thanx in advance

That's great about your new lungs! How exciting. I'm not sure as I don't know anything about this drug. Several people on here have had transplants though and hopefully they will chime in soon. Meanwhile, I would make sure your doing it right. If you have to get a hold of your doctor and tell them the problems your having. Good luck and sorry I can't be more helpful.

Congrats on your new lungs!
i have my transplant 3 months ago and had to nebulize ampho b too.. But only the first few days when i was in icu. They stopped it i think because my bronch was ok. I can't help you with the dosage, it was just handed to me everytime. It's the yellow stuff isn't it? If you are not sure, just call the hospital again. They should be able to help you. If it feels different it could be that you don't have the right dosage.
Let us know how it's going now!
