I take a Mucinex table before going to bed. That helps keep things from being too dried out. Don't take a decongestant like Sudafed--that will only make your mucus membranes dry out and you won't be able to move the phlegm out of your airways very easily.

Also, make sure you stay well hydrated. It makes a difference.

One thing you may also want to consider is if you have an asthma component to your CF. If you don't already have an allergen reducing pillow cover and a hypoallergenic pillow, consider them a worthwhile investment.

Sometimes when I've got a flare up and a lot of congestion I take a hot steamy shower before bed. It seems easier to bring up the crud in a hot shower. Then when you go to bed you're lungs are clearer, so maybe in the morning they might still be clearer than if you didn't take a steamy shower. Sorry you're feeling lousy. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif" border="0"> ~Juliet

I understand your frustration. I dont usually wake up feeling horrible, but i feel entirely lazy and have a terrible time getting motivated to move. I remember when i first started using oral GSH 6 years ago, and got up to my correct dose for my body weight i woke up energized and raring to go. Now that i am on a lowered dose iam not as raring as i was with the full dose. I am not suggesting you start using GSH ( Glutathione) but i am letting you know what worked for me.
