Has anyone used Moxifloxacin?

My son had elevated blood sugar with gatifloxacin so the doc suggested the moxi. Just wondering.

I have been on Avelox before, It isn't the greatest antibiotic for me. It doesn't work on the normal Gram negative bacterias that CFs get, but is effective for regular sickness.

I have never taken Avelox and got better on it for anything, but my trouble is usually MRSA and that explains that.

Jennifer, I'm curious about why you took it. Our doctor is treating the a-typical bug with it.

I had a resp. infection and it was my primary doctor who put me on it.. I am already in bed for the night so I will have to look it up in my drug guide, but it can take care of some heavy infections, just not what I had.

It is wonderful for bronchitis, sinusitis, etc, again depending on what you culture.

I am sure your doctor knows what he is doing, certainly my experience with it was as a patient, not as a nurse, we don't prescribe that one at work for kids.

Hope he feels better soon,

Thanks Jennifer. We've had a very hard time finding anything to work on this a-typical bug. Gati was one, we're hoping the moxi will be effective w/o the side effect of high blood sugar.
I appreciate your help.

Jane,

What atypical bug is it that they are trying to treat? Do you know? I can look up the drug in my drug guide book if you want.. I am not that sleepy...Just let me know.. I can look in my Peds books for some clues as well..

Is he on it by itself or are they using it as a combo with other meds?. I started avelox a few times for sinus infections, but like I said, it was very expensive which is just a side note, and it never cleared it up for me, my past few hospital stays have started with me going from Avelox, to Bactrim and Cipro, to IVS,, Bactrim is my all time favorite antibiotic, I wish I could take it all the time, I feel so good on it... (effective against MRSA) and many other things.
